The real gate

What gates you from publishing isn't the writing, it's the fear of being judged wrong in public—and the antidote is the lived list of everything you've already survived.

What actually stops me from putting my work into the world isn't the writing, or whether the idea is good enough. It's the fear of being judged and found wrong in public. For me that's rejection-sensitive dysphoria—and naming the resistance is half of loosening its grip.

The antidote I built for myself is a list. Everything I've survived, all the hardships. I failed out of my associate's and came back and finished it. Failed out going for my bachelor's, came back and got that. I married the woman I love.

It's lived proof—that I've done hard things before and came out fine. Reread the list before you post the scary thing. It's the exact confidence a first public step asks for.
