Taste is collected dots
Nobody is born with taste. It's collected dots—experiences, interpretations, repetitions—gathered until you can tell what you genuinely like. It isn't given; it accumulates.
Nobody is born with taste. It's collected dots—experiences, interpretations, the things you were exposed to and how they made you feel. You gather them until you can tell what you genuinely like.
It breaks into three parts: the craftsmanship itself; recognizing the impurities and imperfections, which only comes through experience and education; and culture, what gets accepted. Do a thing regularly enough and you start to notice the differences, and you zoom in on what's actually yours.
So taste isn't given, it accumulates. Keep collecting dots, and one day you'll stand in front of something and simply know.
