One drive, many forms

For years I've been remixing one drive in different forms, each time thinking it was a new idea—like the alchemist, going out on the journey and arriving back at the same place. That recurrence means something.

For years I kept getting pulled to the same idea, just in different ways for different reasons. Each time it arrived feeling like a brand-new thought.

The anniversary book. The monthly prompts. The daily notes. The blog. The letters to my son. The birthday video. I thought they were separate projects. They were one drive wearing different clothes—the same loop of capturing, making sense of it, and handing it to someone. Like the alchemist who goes out on the whole journey only to arrive back where he started.

For a while I wondered if it just meant I hadn't pinned down the form yet—I don't have that fully settled. But I've stopped believing it's nothing. When a thing keeps coming back in every shape you give it, that recurrence means something.
