Inspired isn't pursued
Draw the line between being inspired by something and choosing to pursue it—without that line, you get pulled in every direction.
There's a line between being inspired by something and choosing to pursue it, and for a while I wasn't drawing it. So I got pulled in every direction at once—every idea, every thought, every bit of inspiration tugging.
There's an old story I keep coming back to. One company said yes to everything and tried to jam it all into a single device. Another took just three things—a calendar, a notepad, contacts—focused, and shipped the Palm Pilot. The focused one is the one that won.
Inspiration is everywhere. The real work is choosing what to actually pursue. Draw that line, or you'll be pulled apart by all the things you could do.
