Constraints unlock clarity

Saying yes to everything spreads you thin; the right constraint unlocks more than it takes away. Even stories run on this—no trials, no hero. The conflict is the constraint.

Saying yes to everything spreads you thin. That was General Magic's failure—no constraint, so the whole thing scattered. A constraint can actually unlock a whole bunch of things.

Even stories run on this. The hero's journey wouldn't be a hero's journey without the trials and the constraints. The conflict is the constraint.

So when the limits show up, try to see them as positive constraints—good pressure, as long as you look at them that way. Held right, that's exactly what unlocks the thing.
