Show up for the friend you have

Friends grow apart, and that's growth; what matters is showing up for the friend you actually have.

Friends grow apart. That isn't a failure—it's growth. People move toward different things, and the closeness that once made it effortless falls away.

So the question stops being how do I keep everyone, and becomes something smaller and truer: am I showing up for the friend actually in front of me? If you truly know your friend—what this moment is costing them, what they need and won't ask for—then show up for that. Not for the version you remember. Not for the version you measure them against. The one who is here.
