Intentional fatherhood as curation

My son being happy and smart is on purpose. Curate the environment, hand down the values, keep the culture alive in him—all of it deliberate.

Everyone admires how you are. You're such a happy kid, so smart. And all of that is on purpose—it comes from the way I think about everything and what I want to expose you to.

Right now you're a sponge. So I keep asking the same questions: what values can I transfer, what principles, what's in your environment? That's my focus—what will make you the best possible human being I can turn you into.

You're half of me, and there isn't much family around to hand you the Filipino side. So I keep that alive on purpose too—learning the language well enough to teach you, keeping the culture breathing. None of it is an accident.
