Reaching a goal vs. sustaining it
Hitting a target and keeping it are different problems. You can get a clean-looking pool for a day or two, and then physics happens.
Getting to a point and staying at a point are two different things.
You can get a clean-looking pool for a day or two, and then physics happens—because you didn't address the problem upstream. I know this in my own body. I spent a year trying to get to as low a body fat as I could. I got to single digits, and it was miserable, and it wasn't sustainable, so I gained it all back. This year I'm doing it slower, in a way I can actually live with.
The number was never the hard part. Keeping it is.
